Für die Freunde des etwas härteren Sounds kommt hier mit dem nun dritten Langeisen, der aus UK stammenden, vierköpfigen Formation, Damnation’s Hammer, genau das Richtige. Beeinflusst durch so großartige Bands, wie Celtic Frost, entstand die Band im Jahr 2007. Man schrieb sich auf die Fahne, die harten und unverwechselbaren Riffs der 80’er Jahre einzufangen und mit genügend Doom Metal zu paaren. So kreierte man schnell seinen eigenen Sound. Nun also folgt mit, Into the Silent Nebula das dritte Studioalbum. Enthalten sind acht brandneue Songs, die an Härte nichts vermissen lassen. Das Album hat immer noch die gewaltigen Riffs, für die DAMNATION'S HAMMER bekannt sind, aber "Into The Silent Nebula" ist abenteuerlicher ausgefallen, als sein Vorgänger. So kommt unter anderem mit dem Titel Track ein einfühlsames Instrumentel daher, welches trotz seinem mit viel Gefühl geführten Sound, die bedrohliche Stimmung des Gesamtwerkes in keinster Weise beeinflusst oder gar stört. Erneut experimentiert man bei Songs wie, The Hex IV, mit organischen Klängen unseres Sonnensystems, die man gekonnt mit den Herztönen der sich noch im Mutterleib befindlichen Tochter, von Sänger Tim, vereint, und so völlig neue Klänge erzeugt. Oder man schuf mit dem, beinah Herzstück des Albums, Outpost 31, eine Homage an den Horrorklassiker,The Thing, von John Carpenter. Zu diesem acht-minütigem Glanzstück, wurde auch ein aufwendiges animiertes Video, zum Film, produziert.
Fazit zum Album. Wer es düster, hart und experimentel mag, der ist bei Damnation’s Hammer und ihren dritten Album bestens aufgehoben und wird mit Sicherheit seine Freude an diesem Werk haben.
For fans of a slightly harder sound, the third long iron, the four-piece formation from the UK, Damnation's Hammer, has just the thing. Influenced by great bands like Celtic Frost, the band was formed in 2007. Their mission was to capture the hard and distinctive riffs of the 80s and combine them with enough doom metal. So you quickly created your own sound. Now comes the third studio album, Into the Silent Nebula. Included are eight brand new songs that don't lack any heaviness. The album still has the massive riffs that DAMNATION'S HAMMER are known for, but "Into The Silent Nebula" is more adventurous than its predecessor. The title Track, among other things, is a sensitive instrument that, despite its emotionally driven sound, does not in any way influence or even disrupt the threatening mood of the entire work. Once again, songs like The Hex IV experiment with the organic sounds of our solar system, which are skillfully combined with the heart tones of singer Tim's daughter, who is still in the womb, to create completely new sounds. Or with Outpost 31, which is almost the heart of the album, they created an homage to the horror classic, The Thing, by John Carpenter. An elaborate animated video for the film was also produced for this eight-minute masterpiece.
Conclusion about the album. Anyone who likes it dark, hard and experimental is in good hands with Damnation's Hammer and their third album and will definitely enjoy this work.
