“Hell Boulevard are back”, die Truppe meldet sich mit ihrer neuen Scheibe “Requiem” vier Jahre nach der letzten Veröffentlichung von “Not Sorry” zurück.
Was kann man über das Album sagen? Es ist auf jeden Fall sehr fetzig, hat einen geilen Groove, hat aber auch jede Menge an Härte dazugewonnen. Hell Boulevard haben sich musikalisch weiterentwickelt. Hier werden viele Musikrichtungen vereint, von Goth-Rock über Industrial aber auch klassischer Metal ist wirklich für jeden was dabei.
“Not another Lovesong” regt schon fleißig zum Rocken an und ist eine eher traditionelle Rock/Metalnummer mit einem sehr geilen und eingängigen Riff. Ein wahrer Stampfer!
Weiter geht’s mit “She just wanna dance” eine Nummer mit vielen Elektro-Einflüssen, aber dennoch sehr rockig und eine absolute Tanznummer. Live werden hier mit Sicherheit keine Füße stillstehen.
Industrial geht es weiter mit dem Song “The Monster”. Rau, hart, brutal und schnell ist diese Nummer. Erinnert ein wenig an alte Songs von “The 69 Eyes”. Dennoch ein sehr stimmiger Song mit einem sehr coolen Refrain. Ein Party-Nummer vom feinsten.
Nun kann man sich auf die “Guillotine” legen und die langsamen, aber dennoch harten Töne des gleichnamigen Songs anhören. Jedoch der Schein trügt, nach einem langsamen Intro geht es dann in BPMs hoch und der Song gibt Gas. Orchestral, depressiv aber geil fällt einem hierzu nur ein.
“Rollercoaster” ist die Achterbahn, die jetzt folgt. Ein turbulenter Song mit einem geilen Groove. Hart aber herzlich ist diese Nummer und man hört, wie viel Spaß die Band hatte diesen Song aufzunehmen. Wird ein absolutes Highlight, diesen Song live zu erleben.
Nach der Achterbahn kommt nun der Song mit dem längsten Titel auf dem Album “I got what I want but I lost what I had”. Hier haben wir einen Song mit Orchester, Gitarren, starke Rhythmen und einen sehr kraftvollen, harmonischen Gesang. Eine Hell Boulevard Nummer vom Feinsten und wie man sie kennt und liebt. Einer meiner Lieblingssong von dem Album.
“Messed up” geht es weiter. Eine Elektro-Metal-Nummer bei der der gute vDiva (Sänger) rau, hart aber groovig seine Stimme zum Besten gibt. Eine geile Hookline, wo das Publikum dann schön “Messed up” mitsingen kann. Was für ein Meisterwerk!
Nun wird es mit “Weirdos” wieder etwas düster und gruselig. Ein harter aber langsamerer Song der tief unter die Haut geht. Die Geigen und das Orchester sowie der Fuzz-Effekt auf den Gitarren gibt einen sehr coolen Effekt und verleiht dem Song eine sehr spezielle Härte.
“Branded” ist wieder ein harter Song mit einem gewissen, nackenbrechenden Element. Springt aber sehr schön von einer harten Strophe in einen ruhigen Pre-Chorus um dann mit einem Chorus mitten in die Fresse zu hauen.
Die melancholische Ballade “Don’t fix a broken heart” bringt das Album dann zu einem sehr würdigen Abschluss. Eine Nummer, wo jeder Gänsehaut haben wird. Eine Nummer, die man mit Kopfhörern hören muss. Eine Nummer, die einfach nur schön ist. Eine Nummer, die man immer und immer wieder hören möchte.
Mein Fazit zu der vierten Scheibe von Hell Boulevard:
Was für ein geiles Album, die Jungs haben sich hier selbst übertroffen. Es ist vielseitig, hart, melancholisch, groovy und dennoch extrem stimmig und homogen. Der Flow zwischen den Songs ist sehr gut und es fühlt sich kein Song fehl am Platz.
Das Album macht von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde Spaß zu hören und wird auch beim dritten oder vierten oder sogar zehnten Mal nicht langweilig.
Auf jeden Fall etwas für Freunde von Deathstars, The 69 Eyes, Type O Negative und Bands des gleichen Kalibers.
Eine klare Kaufempfehlung und bekommt von mir die höchstmögliche 10/10

"Hell Boulevard are back", the band are back with their new album "Requiem" four years after the last release of "Not Sorry". What can you say about the album? It's definitely very groovy, has a great groove, but has also gained a lot of heaviness. Hell Boulevard have developed musically. Many musical styles are combined here, from goth rock to industrial but also classic metal, there really is something for everyone. "Not another Lovesong" already gets you rocking and is a more traditional rock/metal number with a very cool and catchy riff. A real stomper!
We continue with "She just wanna dance", a number with lots of electro influences, but still very rocking and an absolute dance number. Live, no feet will stand still here for sure.
Industrial continues with the song "The Monster". This number is rough, hard, brutal and fast. It reminds me a little of old songs by "The 69 Eyes". Nevertheless, a very harmonious song with a very cool chorus. A party number at its best.
Now you can lie down on "Guillotine" and listen to the slow, yet hard sounds of the song of the same name. But appearances are deceptive, after a slow intro the BPMs increase and the song steps on the gas. Orchestral, depressive but cool is the only thing that comes to mind.
"Rollercoaster" is the rollercoaster that now follows. A turbulent song with a great groove. This number is hard but heartfelt and you can hear how much fun the band had recording this song. It will be an absolute highlight to experience this song live.
After the rollercoaster comes the song with the longest title on the album "I got what I want but I lost what I had". Here we have a song with orchestra, guitars, strong rhythms and very powerful, harmonious vocals. A Hell Boulevard number at its best and as you know and love it. One of my favorite songs from the album.
"Messed up" continues. An electro-metal number in which the good vDiva (singer) delivers his voice rough, hard but groovy. A great hookline, where the audience can sing along to "Messed up". What a masterpiece!
Now it gets a bit dark and creepy again with "Weirdos". A hard but slower song that gets deep under your skin. The violins and the orchestra as well as the fuzz effect on the guitars create a very cool effect and give the song a very special hardness.
"Branded" is another hard song with a certain neck-breaking element. But it jumps nicely from a hard verse into a calm pre-chorus and then hits you right in the face with a chorus.
The melancholy ballad "Don't fix a broken heart" then brings the album to a very worthy close. A number that will give everyone goosebumps. A number that you have to listen to with headphones. A number that is simply beautiful. A number that you want to listen to over and over again.
My conclusion on the fourth album from Hell Boulevard:
What an awesome album, the guys have outdone themselves here. It's versatile, hard, melancholic, groovy and yet extremely coherent and homogeneous. The flow between the songs is very good and no song feels out of place.
The album is fun to listen to from the first to the last second and doesn't get boring even on the third or fourth or even tenth listen.
Definitely something for fans of Deathstars, The 69 Eyes, Type O Negative and bands of the same caliber.
A clear recommendation to buy and gets the highest possible 10/10 from me.
