Wenn Rock, und das seit 27 Jahren im unverwechselbaren Style, dann kann das nur eines bedeuten. Dank Jones!
1996 in Toronto gegründet, haben Danko Jones im letzten Vierteljahrhundert so ziemlich alles gesehen und getan. Angetrieben vom DIY-Punkrock-Geist und inspiriert vom Guten, Großen und Grotesken des elektrifizierten Rock 'n' Roll, haben sie sich kontinuierlich eine riesige internationale Fangemeinde aufgebaut und sind zu einer der am meisten gefeierten Live-Bands geworden, die von allen, von Mainstream-Radio-Rock-Fans bis hin zu eingefleischten Metalheads, umarmt wird. Auf ihrem Weg haben sie zehn hochgelobte Studioalben veröffentlicht und dabei ein unvergleichliches Repertoire an Publikumslieblingen geschaffen, die die Fäuste in die Luft recken. Vom stacheligen Blues des 2002er Albums Born A Lion über den verrückten Power-Pop des Nachfolgers We Sweat Blood (2003) bis hin zur priapischen Perfektion des 2010er Albums Below The Belt - die Band hat es immer geschafft, den Sweet Spot des Rock zu treffen. In den letzten zehn Jahren haben Danko Jones sichtlich einige Gänge hochgeschaltet. Seit sich Frontmann Danko und Bassist JC mit Schlagzeuger Rich Knox zusammengetan haben, lodert das kreative Feuer der Band heller denn je. Eine Reihe von Alben - Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio - hat zu noch intensiverem Touren und unermüdlichem Einsatz für die Sache des Rock geführt. Im Jahr 2023 veröffentlichen Torontos Erzbischöfe der Verstärkung ihr 11. Album, Electric Sounds: der Beweis, dass selbst eine globale Pandemie Danko Jones nicht aufhalten konnte.
Soweit die Kollegen des Labels, AFM. Was sagt aber nun das Streetteam Berlin zum elften Album? Ganz einfach, wir stimmen unseren Kollegen voll und ganz zu und können nur bestätigen, dass auch die pandemiebedingte Unterbrechung der Band nichts anhaben konnte. Danko Jones selbst erklärt die Zeitspanne der Zwangspause mit folgendem Satz… "Zwei Jahre lang nicht zu arbeiten, fühlte sich wirklich so an, als würden tourende Rockbands auf die Weide gestellt" Nun, diese unsägliche Situation gehört gottlob der Vergangenheit an, und wird hoffentlich nie eine Fortsetzung erfahren.
Nun sind sie also wieder da, obwohl sie ja nie weg waren. Danko Jones, spielen ihren eigenen, Electric Sound, und rocken das Universum erneut. Elf neue Kracher, die keinen Zweifel daran lassen, wer Danko Jones ist, war und mit ziemlicher Sicherheit auch noch lange bleiben wird. Electric Sounds ist nicht nur der Titel des neuen Albums, sondern auch einer der darauf zu findenden Songs. Wer also genau wissen möchte, was ihm das neue Material liefert, oder wer gar die Formation noch nicht kennt, sollte einfach genau mit dieser Nummer starten. Der Song sagt im Großen und Ganzen nämlich genau das aus, was diese Band und ihre Schöpfung ausmacht. Coole Rock-Beats, gemischt mit der genügenden Menge an elektrifizierenden Soundpassagen. Nun mag durchaus der eine oder andere sagen, Hm, Danko Jones klingt immer gleich, das mag sein. Aber genau das ist es eben. Bei Danko Jones gibt es keine Kompromisse oder großartige Experimente. Danko Jones ist eben Danko Jones, wie AC/DC, AC/DC oder ZZ-Top halt ZZ Top sind. Fertig. Hier gibt es nichts zu diskutieren. Diese Band hat ihren eigen Style und der macht einfach Spaß und verbreitet gute „Party“ Laune. Somit reiht sich Album Nummer Elf ohne viele Schnörkel in die Reihe der bisherigen Veröffentlichungen ein. Wir sind uns sicher, das neue Album wird nicht nur eingefleischte Fans überzeugen.
Genug der Worte, Electric Sounds in einer seiner verfügbaren Form zugelegt, und mächtig gefeiert. Mehr gibt es hier nicht mehr zu sagen.

Formed in Toronto in 1996, Danko Jones have seen and done just about everything over the last quarter century. Driven by the DIY punk rock spirit and inspired by the good, the great and the grotesque of electrified rock 'n' roll, they have continually built a huge international following and become one of the most critically acclaimed live bands of all, from Mainstream radio rock fans to die-hard metalheads are embraced. Along the way, they've released ten critically acclaimed studio albums, creating an unparalleled repertoire of crowd-pleasing, fist-pumping repertoire. From the spiky blues of 2002's Born A Lion to the crazy power-pop of its follow-up We Sweat Blood (2003) to the priapic perfection of 2010's Below The Belt, the band has always managed to hit rock's sweet spot. Over the last ten years, Danko Jones has clearly shifted gears. Since frontman Danko and bassist JC teamed up with drummer Rich Knox, the band's creative fire has burned brighter than ever. A series of albums - Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio - led to even more intensive touring and tireless commitment to the cause of rock. In 2023, Toronto's Archbishops of Amplification will release their 11th album, Electric Sounds: proof that even a global pandemic couldn't stop Danko Jones.
So much for the colleagues at the label, AFM. But what does Streetteam Berlin say about their eleventh album? Quite simply, we completely agree with our colleagues and can only confirm that the pandemic-related interruption did not affect the band. Danko Jones himself explains the period of the forced break with the following sentence... "Not working for two years really felt like touring rock bands were being put out to pasture." Well, thank God this unspeakable situation is a thing of the past, and hopefully it never will be experience a continuation.
So now they're back, even though they never left. Danko Jones, play their own electric sound and rock the universe again. Eleven new hits that leave no doubt who Danko Jones is, was and will almost certainly remain for a long time. Electric Sounds is not only the title of the new album, but also one of the songs on it. So if you want to know exactly what the new material will give you, or if you don't even know the formation yet, you should just start with this number. Overall, the song says exactly what this band and their creation are all about. Cool rock beats mixed with enough electrifying sound passages. Now some people may say, Hmm, Danko Jones always sounds the same that may be the case. But that's exactly it. There are no compromises or great experiments with Danko Jones. Danko Jones is Danko Jones, just like AC/DC, AC/DC or ZZ-Top are ZZ Top. Complete. There is nothing to discuss here. This band has its own style and it's just fun and spreads a good “party” mood. So album number eleven joins the ranks of previous releases without any frills. We are sure that the new album will not only convince die-hard fans.
Enough of the words, Electric Sounds in one of its available forms and celebrated mightily. There is nothing more to say here.
