Was soll man tun, wenn man eine große Leidenschaft hat, sich aber beruflich auf völlig anderen Wegen befindet? Nun im Fall von Marc Hudson, seines Zeichens Frontmann und Sänger einer der erfolgreichsten Power Metal Bands, hieß die Antwort, ganz einfach, ich mache ein Solo Werk. Gedacht getan und so vereinte er einfach sein Können als Shouter von Dragenforce und seine Vorliebe zu Anime Filmen, Serien und ganz besonders Games. Heraus kam das Project Marc Hudson, welches nun in Form eines Tonträgers mit Namen, Starbound Stories zur Verfügung steht. Inhaltlich wie Soundlich erkennt man sofort das es sich um eine Anime-Geschichte Handelt. Zu sehr erkennt man die typischen japanischen Anime Soundeinflüsse. Und doch geben gerade die harten Riffs und der messerscharfe Gesang des Power Metals hier ebenfalls den Ton an. So entstand ein sehr interessantes Album, welches sich über zehn Songs erstreckt, die so wohl eher selten zu finden sein dürften. So fehlt es weder an der nötigen Härte, noch an gewaltigen Riffs. Dennoch klingt stets das Feeling mit, man befände sich mitten in einem Game oder auf abenteuerlicher Reise durch die animierte Welt der uns bekannten und unbekannten Helden, meist Japans. Das dieses Album überhaupt erst so klingt, wie es nun klingt, liegt auch mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit daran, das Mister Hudson große Unterstützung von in der Szene Namenhaften Künstlern und Entwicklern der Anime-Branche erhalten hat. Hut ab an dieser Stelle für ein sehr mutiges experimentelles Werk, welches am Ende doch sehr zu gefallen vermark. Von uns gibt es die volle Zustimmung und Kaufempfehlung, nicht nur für Metal, sondern auch für Anime Fans. Wir sind gespannt ob und wenn ja wie das Material auf der Bühne umgesetzt werden kann.
What should you do if you have a great passion but are on completely different paths professionally? Well in the case of Marc Hudson, frontman and singer of one of the most successful Power Metal bands, the answer was, quite simply, I'm doing a solo work. Thought done and so he simply combined his skills as a shouter for Dragenforce and his preference for anime films, series and especially games. The result was the Project Marc Hudson, which is now available in the form of a sound carrier called Starbound Stories. In terms of content and sound, you immediately recognize that it is an anime story. The typical Japanese anime sound influences are too recognizable. And yet the hard riffs and the razor-sharp vocals of Power Metal also set the tone here. This is how a very interesting album was created, which stretches over ten songs, which are probably rather rare to find. So there is neither the necessary heaviness nor powerful riffs missing. Nevertheless, there is always the feeling that you are in the middle of a game or on an adventurous journey through the animated world of known and unknown heroes, mostly Japan. The fact that this album sounds the way it sounds in the first place is probably also due to the fact that Mister Hudson received great support from well-known artists and developers in the anime industry. Hats off at this point for a very courageous experimental work, which ends up being very pleasing. We give our full approval and purchase recommendation, not only for metal, but also for anime fans. We are curious if and if so how the material can be implemented on stage.
