Bloodbound ist eine schwedische Power-Metal-Band, die im Sommer 2004 von Gitarrist Tomas Olsson und Keyboarder Fredrik Bergh (Street Talk) in Bollnäs gegründet wurde. Mit dem ehemaligen Tad-Morose-Sänger Urban Breed (der heute bei Serious Black singt) und Drummer Oskar Belin wurde die Besetzung vervollständigt.
Nun also im Jahr 2023 erscheint ihr mittlerweile zehntes Album, und hier kommt unsere Meinung zum neuen Werk…
Bloodbound, macht mit ihrem neuen Album „Tales from the North“ dem Power-/Speedmetal Genre wieder alle Ehre. Angefangen mit einem schönen Intro, gehen sie dann auch gleich in die Vollen! Wobei man sagen muss, dass hier insgesamt in den 11 Tracks mehr Speed als Power im Vordergrund steht. Überraschend und eindrucksvoll erscheint der 2. Track „Drink with the Gods“. Dieser ist ein Song zum Mitsingen, lädt zum Feiern ein und wer textsicher ist, wird ordentlich mitsingen und seinen Spaß haben können. Auffallend sind die beiden Tracks Nummer 5 „Mimir Crystal Eye“ und Nummer 10 „Sword and Axe“. Diese wirken sehr symphonisch und der Hörer hat das Gefühl, dass das Arrangement komplexer und der Sound satter wirkt. Der Sound und das Arrangement erinnern stark an die Symphonic Metalband „Nightwish“. Ebenfalls fällt auf, dass sehr oft Instrumente genutzt werden, die an das Mittelalter erinnern, welches dem gesamten Album ein episches Flair verleiht und gerade auch im letzten 11. Track „1066“ sehr gut abrundet. Hier sei kurz erwähnt, dass es sich beim Jahr 1066 um genau das Jahr handelt, in dem die Normanen die Eroberung des Englische Königreich, bei der großen Schlacht bei Hastings, begannen. Man wurde hier angeführt von Herzog, Wilhelm II. der Normandie, der nach der Eroberung, zu König Wilhelm I., über das Königreich England wurde. Insgesamt wirkt das Album erfrischend kraftvoll, sodass man es sich gleich ein 2. Mal anhören möchte.

So now in 2023 her tenth album will be released, and here is our opinion on the new work...
Bloodbound, with their new album "Tales from the North", once again does credit to the power/speed metal genre. Starting with a nice intro, they go straight to the top! Although it has to be said that in the 11 tracks there is more speed than power in the foreground. The second track “Drink with the Gods” appears surprising and impressive. This is a song to sing along to, invites you to celebrate and if you know the lyrics, you will be able to sing along and have fun. The two tracks number 5 "Mimir Crystal Eye" and number 10 "Sword and Axe" are striking. These have a very symphonic effect and the listener has the feeling that the arrangement is more complex and the sound is richer. The sound and the arrangement are strongly reminiscent of the symphonic metal band "Nightwish". It is also noticeable that instruments are used very often that remind of the Middle Ages, which gives the entire album an epic flair and rounds it off very well, especially in the last 11th track "1066". It should be briefly mentioned here that the year 1066 is the very year in which the Normans began their conquest of the English kingdom at the great Battle of Hastings. It was led here by Duke William II of Normandy, who after the conquest became King William I of the Kingdom of England.
All in all, the album is refreshingly powerful, so that you want to listen to it a second time.
