Release Date : 24.09.2021
Genre : Death/Hardcore
Rezension by : Andy Dax vom Streetteam Berlin

Beim nächsten Song “N!CE”, was soll man da sagen?

They haven't been a blank slate in the German deathcore scene for a long time. Now with "Das Album", "We Butter the Bread with Butter", also called WBTWB, return with full power and brutality. Thanks to the return of Tobias Schultka, the power duo is complete again. Since the release of the last album, “Wieder Geil” in 2015, WBTWB has returned to their original ranks stylistically and goes back to the roots. With the first song “Dreh auf” they show what this album is all about. There is hardly anyone here who can say that he does not want to swing his mane and jump around (as the song also sings “ALL RASTEN AUS”). From the thunderstorm it goes to “20 km / h”. Please don't think that the song is slow. No, a high number of BPM and well-placed samples are used here as well. With the next song “N! CE”, what can you say? Very brutal riff, hard vocals and a pure joy for every fan as well as non-fan. The answer to the question, the song is Mega-N! ICE! “Stationery salesman”, this song really makes you want to go to McPaper and stock up on things. Cool guitars with electric themes give this song a definite recognition value. “Give me more, I want more” is what you hear very often here and you want that too. “Runs” runs! At first the song is reminiscent of a techno gig, but appearances are deceptive. Here the guys really paint and pull a lot of surprises out of the box. Hard riffs, techno samples and relevant vocals make this an absolute cannon, which should definitely not be missing at any party. “Life is not a jump 'n' run, you don't just give up,” this sentence says it all. Cool 80s intro, followed by a very cool riff, it turns into good old death metal. The song puts you in a good mood and this is sure to put a lot of strain on your neck. The next song invites you to take a breather. “Just speak to them” is a completely different song than heard on this album so far. Many “kids” will be able to identify with this topic. You see someone attractive in a club and find the courage not to speak to that person. I hope this song will give you some courage here. “My fingers are too small” is an invitation to come into the mosh pit or to start one. Hard rhythms, cool drum tracks and a bang-on-it attitude give the song an unparalleled fun factor. Who does not know it? The annoying hum of a bee on the ear .... "Piks mich" the song starts with exactly this sound and then goes into an explosion of different musical styles. You can find hardcore, deathcore, grindcore but also a very melodic metal chorus that absolutely invites you to sing along. With track number 11 the guys really hit the gas again. "Metal" the song lives up to its title. Hard, loud and brutal and a declaration of love to metalcore. "Attack of the kebab plate" Another thunderstorm of strength, energy and fun. If this is to describe the apocalypse, then it is welcome to come that way. Doner kebab to attack !! "Last Song" is actually the last song on the album. But here you shouldn't think that it's a bouncer. No, it's a grand finale with orchestral samples, cool vocals and an almost epic feeling. Brutal core, calm passages with piano merge into electro. Here is shown again what the guys can do. Conclusion: After a 6-year break, the Berlin metalcore duo are releasing their 5th studio album together with Tobi and Marcie. You can tell during the time that the duo has lost neither fun nor talent and with "Das Album" they deliver an absolute hit that should not be missing at any metal party. A clear recommendation for every core fan but also everyone who would like to become one. A strong disc with catchy riffs, good melodies, choruses to sing along to and just a lot of good humor and a lot of self-irony. WBTBWB will again put "Das Album" very far on the card of the Deathcore and present clear standards for all bands in this genre.
